Prior to his retirement in April 2010 Blevins served as the COO of Luminant, the power generation subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings. As the chief operating officer for Luminant, Blevins was responsible for nuclear generation, fossil generation, mining, safety, environmental services, supply chain and performance management. This assignment included startup of three new lignite units. The COO role culminated a career of over 40 years with the same company, EFH and its predecessor TXU Corp.

He started his career with Northeast Utilities Nuclear Production Test Group and continued his career as a Senior Test Analyst for Northeast Utilities unregulated Test Group, Northeast Generation Services. In this capacity, he maintained or commissioned electrical distribution and generation apparatus to include protection and control relays for nuclear generators, merchant generators, hydro generators, pharmaceutical, Industrial and commercial customers.

Gary Mechler, NRG Energy (Retired)

Gary Mechler is a professional in the power generation business who retired from NRG on July 1, 2013 after a 36 year career. He began his career with Houston Lighting and Power in May 1977 as a Results Engineer at the P H Robinson Power Plant and in August 1987 was promoted to Plant Manager at the S R Bertron Power Plant. His career included a two year stint in Human Resources and he was on the Company’s negotiating team with IBEW 66 for 5 contract renewals. At his retirement, he was the General Plant Manager at the NRG Limestone Power Plant which has the two largest coal fired units in the State of Texas. One of the accomplishments at Limestone of which Gary is most proud is his 270 employees completing 511 consecutive days without an OSHA recordable injury after implementing and leading the PPI Error Elimination process.
